Santa Lucia

Today was the feast of Santa Lucia, celebrated traditionally with the eldest girl of the home waking everybody to a candlelit breakfast at dawn. Thankfully all went well and Angelica still has a full head of hair.

Angelica look SO COOL with her candlelit wreath. I doubt Peter would ever let me try this with Monica. Bummer.

The candle wreath is lovely! For those who are a little more safety conscious, though (or who have children who can't be trusted around fire), wreaths of electric candles can be bought online and decorated with greenery.

yes, i almost didn't let her do it but angelica is my most saftey concious child and also i used beeseax candles that don't drip hot wax. The crown was lit for all of three minrutes.

Anna -- new to your blog... you did this tradition for real! I was just telling Stephen about it this year and wondered if I were correct about the wreath of candles on the eldest girl's head. :) What a pretty picture. :)
